I have now implemented you brilliant Upsell patch. Quick, easy and does exactly what is required!!! It was well worth the money. Thanks.

Just doing a few layout tweaks and have a quick question:

Being of limited technical ability I am struggling to get my Main Upsell Template to match the original in layout. Is this possible?

For instance:

Upsell layout does not have the padding similar to the original layout. Note the gap between the image and description text.

Of course the orginal is worked out automatically based on size of image?

In your Upsell Product Templates (Upsell_Main_ProductLine.html & Upsell_Horizontal_Main_ProductLine.html) look for

<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0>

change to

<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=10>

That should do it.

Upsell feature is working fine! Thanks.

Another layout question: At present if I use two upsell images of different sizes they look abit messy because at present they are valigned to the top. Example: http://www.kjbeckett.com/acatalog/re...rtcharles.html

Can you point me the correct direction to valign to middle. I am not sure which valign to change?

It was quite a complex change. I've emailed the two amended templates to you. There's a side-effect in that the caption "Related Products" has to be moved outside the table, to above it.

Note that there's a Custom Property UPSELLIMAGEMAXHEIGHT that you can use to limit the height of tall images.

I too am interested in Norman’s “up-sell” addition but I need to change the format of my site in order to do so. Currently all my info pages open in a pop up screen but I would need them to open within the same page like the site featured above.

Would this be difficult to implement or is there a template available?

Your main products (that use upsell items) can contain Extended Info pages as usual.

However the Upsell items, which are usually copies of products that are elsewhere on the site, use a stripped down product template to display the minimal info for the upsell item and its link. Upsell product use a dedicated popup Extended Info page to display their full details and the add to cart stuff.

However if you had to display even more info on these items it would be possible to call the Extended Info popup of the original product, of which this is a duplicate. There would be no way to automate it. You'd probably have to use a Custom Property containing the name of the original products popup file.

Alternatively, it would also be trivial to show the extended info image and description in addition to the usual upsell info. That would simply require adding

<IMG SRC="NETQUOTEVAR:INFOIMAGE" WIDTH=NETQUOTEVAR:INFOIMAGEWIDTH HEIGHT=NETQUOTEVAR:INFOIMAGEHEIGHT>

and NETQUOTEVAR:INFOTEXT into the Upsell_AddToCart_ExtendedInfo.html template, and, of course populating these fields in the Upsell product.

So, using this, upsell products can display 2 images and descriptions at once, one from the main product and the other from the Extended Info fields.

If you have an existing site you can point me at, I can see how you do things at present.

I looked. Good use of navigation in the popups to help people who bookmark a popup or get there via search engines.

There are a couple of points.

1) You should be able to use your existing products as upsell items by replacing the NETQUOTEVAR:PRODUCTDESCRIPTION with NETQUOTEVAR:INFOTEXT in the upsell popup template, as I mentioned above.

2) The Upsell doesn't work well with these Left / Right alternating image templates (a hangover from V5 and V6 - they're no longer supplied in V7). It can be done but requires more work (and additional cost) than the standard patch.

Also, I'm off to the Alps for a week starting tomorrow so will be out of touch for a week.
