Quick Search Not Working On Actinic Homepage

    Hello all,

Since changing the theme on our site, the Quick Search on the actinic homepage isn't working, using it returns this error message:

    A General Script Error Occurred

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error: There is no valid input parameters for the script! Check the referencing HTML code!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Press the Browser back button and try again or contact the site owner
However, as soon as you leave the homepage and try to use the Quick Search from other catalogue pages it works fine.

    Any ideas?

    Hi David

A very similar problem to one you are getting was posted in this thread.

Try checking to see if NETQUOTEVAR:SIMPLESEARCH appears inbetween NETQUOTEVAR:FORMBEGIN and NETQUOTEVAR:FORMEND, if so move it to be above NETQUOTEVAR:FORMEND in your overall layout template (usually Act_primary.html)

    Hope that helps

NETQUOTEVAR:SIMPLESEARCH was actually after NETQUOTEVAR:FORMEND. We tried putting it above NETQUOTEVAR:FORMEND but that just made it disappear.

      Any other ideas

Have you edited any of the templates at all? The act_primary.html holds the variable for the quick search...

It may be easier if you send me your snapshot to have a look at, then we can get to the bottom of it quicker.

If you send it to the Contact Us link at the bottom of this pages, and put it to my attention (James) then I can look into it for you.

          Hi David

I got your email saying you had uploaded it to our support space, do you know who's support space this is? Is it someone from support you have spoken to in the past - I need to know who it is so I can get the username and password to access the space and download the snapshot.

              Hi there

There appears to be a problem with your simple search template.

The easiest thing to do to get this problem resolved, is browse to c:\program files\actinic 7\formats\themes\businesscss - and copy the file Act_SimpleSearch.html, then if you browse to your site1 folder (c:\program files\actinic 7\sites\site1) and paste it in there, overwritting the existing file, then go into Actinic and update your website - you should find that solves the problem.

We're using Clean Layout 13 not businesscss, can we just copy the Act_SimpleSearch.html from C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Formats\Themes\Layout13 directory or is that where the problem is?

                  Hi David

Yes, the one from the layout13 will work fine aswell... both will work fine, the is a slight diffence between the two that the layout13 one uses an image as the search button.

So to keep your site looking the same, I would go with the layout13 one.

                  Hope that helps

                    James,

Nope doesn't work. The C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Formats\Themes\Layout13 template is identical to the template we're currently using so it's not that.

Ok, do you want to try the businesscss one - as thats the one I copied across and it worked fine after that.

Done, but it still has the same problem. However, I've just noticed that the error page is being generated by a script called ca000004.pl but the quick search from other catalogue pages use ss000004.pl

Ive uploaded a snapshot of the fixed site to Tobys space again, that you can download and import if you want... hopefully that will solve the problem for you.

                          The file is called mandrake.acd.

Can you tell us the changes so we can fix the site locally without having to do an import.

                            Thanks

                              Hi David

I simply copied across the original Act_SimpleSearch.html template from the businesscss folder, and pasted it into the site1 folder.
