    Credit Card Start Date

Whenever a user selects SWITCH as a payment method they are presented with input fields such as card number, issue number and end date. How can I add Start Date to this so that the users enters the start date if their card has one and it shows up in actinic software when I am viewing the orders?

    Hi,

In V6 goto Edit - Business Settings - Payment & Security - Credit Card Details - Configure Method

Select Issue No or Start Date as relevant

With Switch, Maestro & Solo cards there are some that have a Issue Number and others that have a Valid From Date.

Previously we had a number of problems with getting the correct card details from customers. We solved this by setting up the following 8 different card types

    - Visa
    - Mastercard
    - Switch (with Issue Number)
    - Switch (with Valid From Date)
    - Maestro (with Issue Number)
    - Maestro (with Valid From Date)
    - Solo (with Issue Number)
    - Solo (with Valid From Date)

Switch is being phased out and re-branded as Maestro so some customers cards say Switch and some Maestro. We found it clearer to set these up as different card types. (We had a problem fitting in the text box "Switch/Maestro (with Valid From Date)" - it was too long!) We also accept Solo cards so set these up as well.

We have found that by having all 8 card types listed has solved over 99% of problems of not having the correct info left by customers.

    Hope this helps,
    Andrew Mellor

        Great info, thanks

Tried to do this but when trying to create new card sections says I already have card called this, pick another name.
Also when you have 2 card sections with different capture properties, how does the program/consumer know which one to use? (sorry for the dumbness)
Also, do all cards have cw2 values?

          Hi there

Just double check that you not putting in the same names for the card details.

Also when you have 2 card sections with different capture properties, how does the program/consumer know which one to use?
The user should know what he is selecting, it should appear as a dropdown list, so the customer select what cards they have.

Also, do all cards have cw2 values?
Its now starting to be that way.

          Kind Regards

            Thanks for the reply

Is it OK to request CW2 number for all cards then?

Sorry to drag up an old thread - is this advice still valid now, or are there other permutations now?

We've had one (or more) transactions lately that needed the start date and the issue number, never got round to investigating them though...

We have not changed our settings since originally posting to this thread so as far as I am aware this advice still should be OK.

We are unaware of any problems on our site along the lines that George mentioned of cards needing BOTH Start Date AND Issue Number (will probably get one tonight having said that !!)

If anyone has any further info on this, please post on this thread ...

Thanks - I've changed my site so it has the options you suggested Andrew. Hopefully that will be an end to that particular problem.

I think the issue number and start start is a bank of scotland old card

                        not 100% sure
