Capturing additional order data query

I've read all about Norman's Multi Other Info patch to enable additional info to be captured at the product level.

Im wondering if it's possible however to capture name and address details at the product level which will then populate the required form fields within the checkout process. Reason for this is im using actinic to act as a competition entry form and would like these details captured before entering the checkout (what will become 'competition entry process').

Anyone done anything similar or have any bright ideas? Many thanks!

This could be done but would involve some tricky Perl patching.

It might be best to redesign around it being a zero cost product.

A product called "Competition Entry" that has the Other Info Prompt to capture all the customer details.

Set the price to 0.00 and it won't add any value to the Cart.

Thanks, i see what you mean!

However there will be a cost to enter the competition ... hence why i'm using Actinic with Link to Sage and Protx to process the entry fee's.
