    Preview.html error message

    Hi,
    (HELP!!!)

I use Actinic 7 developer. I have 3 brochure pages with links to external web pages (about us, contact us, etc) on our main website. Nothing unusual, as far as I'm aware. When I try and preview the website on my PC, an error shows each time:

"An error occurred while copying C\Program files\Actinic7\Sites\MySite\actinicextras.js to c\Program files\Actinic7\Sites\MySite\PreviewHTML\actinicextras.js. The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user mapped section open.

Very strange - as far as I know, I have no user mapped sections open. What does this mean?

I have just created new site to test this out and it also happens on this, without me doing anything at all. Could this be a bug in Actinic??

    Thanks, June

    Hi,

No responses to my enquiry above. Is there no solution to this problem - should I reinstall actinic

Please help, as it happens on newly created sites as well, so I can't just copy information over and start again. I have looked for similar posts but can find none

    Any ideas at all ????

    June

      Hi June,

I have never seen this error before, especially on a default site. Have you tried manually copying over the 'actinicextras.js' file to the PreviewHTML folder and then try to preview the site? If that doesn't work I suggest you register a support query here so they can get a snapshot from you to see if they can recreate the problem.

        Hi Tracey,

Thanks for your response - I wondered if this was a virus, but I have no viruses - or a bug in Actinic. I tried copying over to previewHTML - still the same. I created a new default website to test this on. This previewed fine the first time, and then came up with this message after that. Totally weird, don't you think? It looks as if the whole package is affected, or the problem passes over from one site to another. Shall I just send you a snapshot of a new site with no activity which shows this error?? I just feel as if the whole thing is corrupted now.

Please advise - thanks for your help on this

          Hi June,

          or a bug in Actinic.
If this is a bug then it hasn't been found yet .

As you get it in a newly licensed site I suggest you try uninstalling the software and then re-install. Take a back-up of your site files before uninstalling and also of the Encryption Key (Housekeeping | Security). After you re-install then try the preview before you copy your site files back in to see if you get the same error.

If not, then clear out the Site1 folder and copy in your site files and also copy back your Encryption Key. Then try the preview and if you still get the problem I can only suggest logging a query as suggested in my previous post so we can do some further investigation.

            I have this problem too!

Can anyone tell me if this problem was ever solved?
I have the same problem, and despite uninstalling and reinstalling it still appears. It seems to only happen if I embed html in the description of products.

              Hi Mark,

As you know, I had this problem last year with the website preview. As I have the Developer version of Actinic, I think I just imported a snapshot to a new site I created and used that instead, as I was unable to get rid of the corruption

              Sorry unable to help further

My problem is that I've uninstalled Actinic, deleted the actinic folder, and reinstalled the program. BUT I still get the problem with the default site that comes with the program!
Anyhow, thanks for your response, I'll just keep pulling my hair out! Going to back-track and see if it's a software conflict on my PC.
                Thanks again.
