    7.0.2 Crashes

We at SVP run a full copy of Actinic through a primary data processing machine, and then each morning copy the ActinicCatalog file to a fileserver where all other office staff can upload this file into their own local Site1 and view all orders up until the point where the ActinicCatalog was saved.

This has worked without major difficulty through versions 5.0 - 7.0.1 and on the majority of workstations in the office for 7.0.2, however our primary processing machine and also on two of the office workstations upgrading to 7.0.2 and then loading Actinic causes the program to stall and crash.

We thought problems may be occuring due to the size of the Catalog (typical Catalog size is between 500-900MB for a 1-2 month period) but all workstations in the office are practically identical Dell machines with similar specifications so have ruled that out. We've tried every trick we know as well as suggestions within this forum to find a solution but so far with no luck.

We've been hoping that the imminent 7.0.3 patch will fix this for us but would also like to know if anyone else has experienced similar problems and/or found a solution.

    Regards all,
    Simon @ SVP

Can you not uninstall Actinic and manually delete the folders left over and then reinstall version 7.02 and do a full site import from a working machine?

Tried that, and everything else that we have found to have solved problems in the past. All that we can think of left is to reinstall the Operating System.

When you have installed Actinic fresh, does it open and the demo store run ok?

Yep, no problems with the demo store.

We have followed the process in task manager. When we then import our own Catalog or Site1 it will attempt to load all of the orders using all the available processor power but then after about 10 seconds the process stops and a few seconds later the program will crash.

We've tried editing the registry, importing working site1 folders and taking snapshots among other things. We can't find any noticeable difference in the state of a fully functional workstation and one of the troublesome ones and there's no difference in the installation and patching process.

We've been using Actinic for over 3 years but now that we're taking around 1000-1500 orders a day maybe we've just outgrown it now?

If the machines are min spec.. you may have trouble with 7.02. One client can run on 7.1 but not on 7.2. That was the last straw.. Just a bit of info
