Legal Headaches caused by Orphaned Jpegs

Dear Forum,

I hope you can help me with this.
We have had some legal trouble over some images which were inadvertantly taken from a suppliers website through a search portal called kelkoo. The problem is this:

Even though the alleged infringing products have been deleted and/or had their images changed we are still told that the old, infringing images are still present on our website. I suspect it is due to the fact the images are still present on the server even though they are not explicitly referenced from any product on the website.

The trouble is we have no way of knowing which images they are , how can I go about removing these orphaned images? Which are still there, but not referenced by any page (at least I think not).

You could delete all images and then refresh your site. Actinic will then upload everything it needs including images.

Your best bet would be to use a stand alone FTP client to access the website and search through all the folders on the site - if you have uploaded images outside of Actinic these will not be deleted with a site refresh.

Once they are deleted it is also worth clearing the web browser cache as they may be viewing the cached images and not the current view on the website.

Then do a site refresh to ensure you have not removed any images required under Actinic

As above, but if you know the names of the images (which I assume you do) you can ftp the entire site to your hard drive, and get windows to search the folder for the images. This will then tell you quickly in what folders they are sitting. Then just ftp into your site, and delete them from the list you have.
