MFC71.DLL prevents V7.02 from opening up

Hi .... are there any registry experts out there who can help with this pleaseeeee .. ?? Actinic support and development have drawn a blank on this but with the help of a friend have identified it as a potential registry problem. Actinic 7.02 ELCA will not open when running (or even having installed) AVG or Zone Alarm anti virus software ... the following invalid page fault appears. Anyone come across this ??. I am on W98 SE.

CATALOG caused an invalid page fault in
    module MFC71.DLL at 0187:7c1502c1.

    Hi Paul,

Apologises for the issue you are experiencing, we are trying to get this issue resolved for the forthcoming version.

Just wanted to know, do you have Access 2000, If you do, then please try the following:
Open the ActinicCatalog.mdb in Access 2000 and then go to "Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and Repair Database".

Once this is done, then try to open Actinic.

Reading your notes, why do you say its a registry issue? Please could you post more information on this?

    Kind Regards

Just to say I'm running v7.02 ELCA with Zone Alarm Security Suite (includes Anti Virus) and all works well. Windows XP SP2 os with Access 2000.

Thanks for your comments... I had been successfully running Actinic 7.02 ELCA with Zone Alarm and AVG, but by process of elimination un-installed these and managed to open Actinic. We are limping by, but with gremlins pending a change of OS to XP to try and resolve it.

We do not run MS Access, so cannot try compacting databases. The registry problem came up in conversation with a friend ... may be clutching at straws, but this is a mystery. Toby at Actinic support has full details of the problem Nadeem.... maybe you could chat it through with him?.

I have tried "registry mechanic" and "error nuker" to try and identify and fix the offending . DLL file but to no avail!. Any other ideas out there please ?.

JetCOMP will compact your database if you download it from the Microsoft website here:-

          http://support.microsoft.com/kb/273956

but I would take a backup of the database before you do it. It will create a new database (based on what you tell it) so this will need to be copied into your Site1 folder. Remember to tick the "Use database locale when copying data for text columns" option.

Might not work but worth a try!
