Linking directly to the Extended Info Pop up

Is there a way of linking from Froogle etc. directly to a product and bring up the extended info page all in one go?

Using for example http://www.electrohill.co.uk/w01-069...l?PRODREF=2053 brings up the section, but the product still has to be selected.

I have tried going straight to the pop up using http://www.electrohill.co.uk/acatalog/info_2053.html but for the Add to Cart button to work the parent page has to be loaded and then the product reselected.

Has anyone got any thoughts on making this a one click operation?

    Thanks

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

have tried going straight to the pop up using http://www.electrohill.co.uk/acatalog/info_2053.html
I'm afraid i don't understand what you are trying to achieve, because the above would be treating the extended info as a product page instead?
If you just want to have one product per page, which can be linked from froogle, you could simply create one section and in that section, just have one product. This would be easier and search engine friendly.

      Hi Nadeem

The idea is to have a list of products with their prices, each with a link to bring up information and cart button.
Can the prices be listed at section level?

      Regards

        Hi Richard,

I'm afraid this is not possible, but you could do the following:

        1. Create a product normally (ie Sony TV), with a compact product layout tab.
        2. Create a section for one product (Sony TV), and copy and paste the duplicate product within this section.
        3. Then go back to the original product, and use the link feature to link to the section or product. You could add in more details in the full description of the duplicate product.

This will be the way to go

          This needs to be done.

This is a must requirement. We definitely want to take customer directly to the ext_info page and we do not want to create one section per product this is not practical at all. Without this, from froogle the user falls in the jungle of products where he has to find his way to the one he wants to buy. On the other side your competitor takes them to a nice product page.

There should be some solution to it, some kind of link either to the product page or to some Perl script and in the URL we should give the SID and Product reference and what ever else is required.

          Any help will be appreciated.

Each product in a section has an anchor which could be added to the end of the Froogle product URL to take the user directly to the position on the page where the product is (at least for V7 - hopefully for V6 also). This might help to simplify things.

Thanks very much Drouding for your reply. Much appreciate.

Actually I knew about the anchors but still I want the customers to go to that detail info page , and moreover it is the requirement of many comparison shopping websites that when we upload our store feed to them the product URL should take the customers to the product page and not to a page with a list of products.
Although I am not a developer at all but I am working on some vbscript for section page template which will open the product page automatically if the reference number is given in URL. But still this does not meet the stringent requirements of comparison shops. And then it does not look neat either.

I hope that a developer will come up with a good solution, if I being an engineer can come up with this.

I am also hoping that Norman will reply to this or you or anyone who has the guts to do it.

              I again thank you.
