discount not showing in basket/checkout

Hello everyone...
I've set up a "20% off everything" discount but it doesn't appear in the Basket or Checkout pages. However, the amount transferred to Worldpay is correct, i.e. the 20% discount has been subtracted.
Does anyone know why the line with the discount is not appearing?
N.B. Sometimes it does appear, but I have not been able to work out a consistent pattern!
