Problem w/ custom variable

I have a custom variable called EXPECTED. I use this to display the expected in-stock date. It worked fine in v6, but now in v7 I'm having trouble. It is displayed on the product. If I define it at a top category level, it displays on all products under that category. But if I define it at a subcategory level, it won't display.

Category A
Sub-Cat 1
product a.1
product a.2

If I put the EXPECTED data on Category A, then products a.1 and a.2 show the date.

If I put the EXPECTED data on Sub-Cat 1, then it doesn't display on the two products. Any ideas?

If you're using version 7.0.2 then this is a known bug that will be fixed in the immenent release of version 7.0.3, which is in beta testing right now.
