confusing checkout with "limit by location"

When I attempt to limit by location the payment method "Invoice and payment with delivery" - but have my other payment methods (authorize.net and paypal) setup as anywhere I'll ship to - on checkout there is a new set of popups called "Invoice address" - which ONLY appear to have my limited set of shipping locations.

This gives the impression that I can ONLY supply those places...

Did I misunderstand how "limit by location" works - if I use it, can't I limit individual payment methods to locations?

    any ideas?

    cheers

    Hi Greg,

if I use it, can't I limit individual payment methods to locations?
Yes this is possible, all you need to do, is highlight the payment you want to limited, then tick "Limited by Location"

Take a look at the following test server: http://barlc09.users.netlink.co.uk/n..._Products.html

If you add a product to the cart, setting the country to UK, allow you to use Worldpay in test mode.

    Taken from the help file:
    Limited By Location
Certain countries in the world carry higher risks of credit card fraud then others. Therefore, you way want to only offer credit-card transactions to certain countries.

Within 'Business Settings | Payment and Security' you can highlight a payment method and then select 'Limited by Location'. Then click 'Configure Valid Locations' to open the 'Edit Payment Method Regions and Locations' window. This allows you set up which locations you want to offer the payment method to.

yep Nadeem, that's what I did...

I'll check it again - but I think there is something a bit funky with that functionality - however, I've since upgraded to 7.03 on this site, so I'll see if it's going to work or not...

If I understand right, it should NOT attempt to limit my checkout information UNTIL I choose payment option right?

nope - I've checked it again... and it doesn't make sense, it's confusing to shoppers and completely illogical...

when I select "limit by location" for mailing US$ funds, and select the USA, canada and some US dependents, then on check out, the buyer is asked for:

Invoice Address - with a choice of my countries, and "None of the above" - and then the delivery address info underneath.

Considering that you must give invoice address in full before being give the payment method on step 4, this extra drop-down is redundant, and confusing to shoppers - ie, I can't use it as my average shopper only needs half a reason to abandon their shopping cart.

Why is it necessary to ask for invoice in a drop-down at this phase at all?

        cheers

          Hi Greg

I've been having a play with this functionality this morning, and I can totally see where you are coming from. As soon as you select 'Limited by Location' you get an extra pop-up box for 'Invoice Location' where you have to specify whether your invoice location is either one of the allowed countries, or is 'None of the Above'.

There doesn't seem to be any way to impove the look of this at all other than limiting ALL the payment methods by location and then including all the countries you ship to into the zones for the other payment methods. This, at least, gives you a better-looking drop-down, but it still gives you an extra drop-down.

I see you've been having discussions elsewhere about your frustrations with the Actinic checkout - and this particular aspect of it is another thing that could be frustrating. I'll pass on your thoughts to the development team.

            Chris,

The issues with checkout are genuine observations about checkout procedures - I don't make these things up - these are concerns from our clients, or from our client's shoppers - the people spending the money THROUGH the actinic stores - confusion is a purchase killer... anything that can be done to remove confusion is a good thing!

            regards

Just wondered if this issue was being tackled at all?
In my V6 catalogue, I wanted to limit Nochex and invoice methods to UK only but leave Paypal as worldwide... when I did, however, it did present the checkout page rather confusingly (is that a word!?) and looked as if I only shipped to the UK?

                Hi Tracey,

I'm afraid at the moment, it has been reported, by not been tackled yet. It possible this change may be too big to include in Version 7, therefore may need to go into a later version. I will your comments as well, just so that Development teams knows that other people are having the same issue.
