a Weight-y issue

We sell bird seed.
Each product has Size as a component.
Each size bag is a different weight and different price.
We have priced each to include the cost of shipping.

This has worked just fine until now.

We use ANC to ship.
We have been using a custom utility to print our consignment notes, and have not had to print the total weight of the order, because ANC would weigh it themselves.

NOw, ANC are asking us to use their label printing system, and to include total weight of the order on the printed labels.

How the blink can we do this without creating yet another custom table?
It would be lovely if each permutation could have a weight as well as a price, but alas, I cannot figure out how to do that.

Have any of you got a simple suggestion to solve our problem?

The only way you can do this is to assign your choices to associated hidden products that hold the weight values in, you can set this up within the permutations tab of the componant.

What is the custom utility you are using to print the labels? It may be worth getting in touch with the people that developed it for you to see if they can include the total weight value.

The approach I've decided to take is to have the shipping clerk determine the total order weight and enter it into my self-written add-on utility.

I'll store the weight in sWorldShipExportDate, since we don't use that field for anything else.
