    on-site / off-site email servers...

I've had a thought regarding email servers...

Many ISPs are now blocking port 25 - the SMTP port - is it now time that Actinic had a different mailserver for offline/online operations - ie, enter 1 mailserver for the CGI-script to use, and one for off-site emails - like sending emails during order processing?

    thanks

Actinc doesn't connect using smtp for off-site emails. It posts them up to the website where the smtp connection is made locally.

That is understandable, why would you have to connect through your ISP from the site? The store is local to the SMTP server that the domain uses, no need to go to your ISP and then back, just connect directly...

so it posts a cgi request to send the emails?

ok - that makes a bit more sense.

I've got a client who is having problems with mailserver tests and offline orders - but not online scripts... I guess I need to investigate a little more...
