    Restricting search results

I'm still trying to get my head around the functionality of the site I'm working on before I make it look pretty but have come across another issue.

The site is for dental products and the majority of the lines won't be for sale to the general public so authorised Dental Professionals will need to log in to view the catalogue.

Although it's not a problem to restrict access to certain sections for unregistered customers, when you perform a search - all of the products appear (if you click on a restricted line - you are taken to the login page). Is there a way of restricting the search so that if you aren't logged in - you are only able to search through the products which are available to you?

    The site is http://www.dowelhurst.net

An example is - if you click on the blue shop button in the top right of the homepage and search for "macleans" the line for £16.50 is for customers with accounts only. it would be great if this would only appear once the customer is logged in.

Please feel free to log in with the temporary test account I've created -

    username - test
    password - test

Also, if you search for "macleans", click on the item for £16.50 and enter the login credentials, you're taken to the homepage and not the product. Does anyone know the cause of this?

    Many Thanks

    Hi there

I will ask the development team if this can be done easily. Once i have found some information, i will post it here on this thread.

      Hi there

The development team have been looking at this, and I'm afraid this cannot be done. The SearchScript does not have the information on what the client price schedule is, so this could determine what the search results can/cannot see. The SearchScript works across the board.
I have added this to our wishlist so it could be considered on a later version.

          Hi James

I'm afraid that I have not seen any workaround that allow you to do this.
