Right, I'll try to explain this so it makes sense!
I have an item on my website (easier to show than explain, it's HERE the item at the bottom, Buppy pads.
It's made up from components/attribute and choices for colours which are linked to an associated product. I only have limited stock in each colour so I think this was the right way to do it? Anyway, I have stock monitoring DISABLED in the main product and ENABLED in all the associated products to monitor the stock levels in each colour.
The maximum order level for each associated product is the same as the stock level for that item. The maximum order level for the MAIN product was 3 (as it's unlikely anyone will want more than 3 anyway)
Right, problem 1.
I get an order for 2 of something that I only had one of. Stock levels and max levels WERE both set at 1 and so this sale resulted in a -1 stock level for the chosen colour.
With me?
I contact customer and she decides to substitute the out of stock (navy) one with a bottle green one.
Fine, I did an "add new item" for the green one.
Problem 2. It didn't adjust the stock level for the green one at all. It was, and remained at, 3. I have had to manually reduce it myself.
Now, I admit that problem 1 could be something I've done? Perhaps the maximum order qty in the MAIN product over-rides the associated ones? Could someone confirm? If so, how should I have it set so that a customer can order more items (as a combination of colours, for example) but not more than the max stock level for each colour?
Problem 2, however, must be a bug? I even tried to repeat the process and it still didn't adjust the stock level for the associated product.
Pretty serious bug for those of us who use stock control, I'd say
Can anyone advise, please? With either problem?
Thanks
Tracey
