temporarily switching off prices

sounds like a mad idea (and not mine but my client's) but is it possible to temporarily hide product prices site-wide?

I can see that removing the potential for ordering is straightforward .. but the prices remain. What's the quickest way of keeping products but hiding prices ?

If you're only using a few product templates you could comment out the price bit and do an update.

Just comment out NETQUOTEVAR:PRODUCTPRICE as mentioned above.

Note that prices would still be displayed in the Search Results, so that's another thing to turn off (via View / Search Settings / Results / Display Options).

You can also comment out the NETQUOTEVAR:ADDTOCARTBUTTON to globally remove any means of adding to cart.

It might still be still possible to get an Add to work by having focus on something like the Other Info prompt and hitting Enter.
