    Network settings disabled

    Hi all,

We've received a snapshot from one of our clients and have imported it in, but the network setup is disabled in the drop down on the menu bar.

The clients version is developer and so is ours both are 7.02

i'm wondering if anyone else has had this occur? And if so how did they recitify it.

    It's confused me.

    kind regards

    Hi,

Did your client deploy the snapshot (Developer | Deploy Site Snapshot) with the network settings disabled or did they create a snapshot in the usual way (File | Snapshot | Export Site)?

      Re: Network Settings Disabled

      Hi,

As far as i know they used the File |Snapshot | Export option, it is the only one we tell our clients to perform whenusing snapshots, as for the other one i've never really looked into it, let alone know what it does fully.

Would the settings be disabled if they deployed it?? If so, would we then have to deploy it to send it back to them?? Or will us creating a snapshot revert it back so that the network settings was available.

      kind regards

        Hi,

If they do not select the options when deploying a snapshot then they will not be available to the import machine.

To get the 'network settings' available again, you can edit the registry.

        1. (With Actinic closed) Click on the 'start' button and select 'Run'. Type 'regedit' into the 'open' field and click 'OK' to open the registry editor.

        2. Expand the following branch:

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\<your site name>

and look for the "NetworkSetup" key.

        3. Right-click on this key and select 'Modify'. Change the value to 'Y'

        4. Do the same for the following branch:

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\<your site name>

        5. Close the registry and re-open Actinic and the network setup screen should be available to you.

Try to ensure that your client only does normal snapshots from now on and you do the same for them.

          Re: Network Settings Disabled

          Hi,

have just found the problem, obviosuly our client unticked the (allow on this machine : network settings), which in turn disabled all the other sites on our designers system.

Such a little thing, anyway, many thanks for your help.

For reference: network settings can be greyed out when the snapshot is created in test mode.

in the Actinic developer they have unchecked "Network Setup" in Business Settings | Options | Allow on this PC.

As you have developer too, you should be able to click that back on...

If not, they probably used the Developer | "Deploy Site Snapshot..." option to export the site... although your developer SHOULD be able to over-ride that...
