    shared SSL issue with iomart

    Hello!

have tried taking the site out of test mode and internetters (iomart) is one of the providers in the actinic payment provider dropdown. the screen also asks for the user ID which i presume is the shared ssl user id.

have tried it with blank, and with the account ID - both ways i get an error message when the shop tries to shift to secure mode, along the lines of "the SSL user ID you have entered is invalid".

called iomart on the 10th to raise this, and have been expecting a call. they called today to ask where our cgi-bin directory was!! couldn't believe the host was calling the customer to ask a hosting question?!

anyway they promise it will be fixed and they'll give us the ID by later on today. i will update with the outcomes

just wondered if anyone else on internetters/iomart had got things working smoothly or had had issues with shared SSL?

We have used them on our 2 sites, the setup was OK.

They do however, frequently go down, it seems. Overall not that wonderful.

a dedicated SSL certificate is so cheap these days, why place your security in the hands of someone else's certicate?

          thanks for the help guys,

iomart got back to us after 7 days in all, and it's finally working.

for such a routine setup enquiry that seems very sloppy to me.

            moved from Iomart

We had to move from Iomart a while back because the site was down and the backup was so poor. There was no one there at weekends to reboot the server or whatever and we even had to contact redbus whatsisname where the server is to get them to hit the reboot button. Even they didn't have out of hours contact details for Iomart!
