Editing Reports

Hello Everybody.

I remember from old post that it was possible to edit Actinic reports with Crystal Reports but I still have a few questions.

Is "CRYSTAL REPORTS 9 STANDARD VERSION US" ok or do I need a more expensive version ?

Is it possible to save a modified Catalog report ?

The tricky part is that I am assuming you are using v4 (or earlier) and this can only accept reports created in Crystal Reports v7. Check in the Help/FAQs in Crystal to see whether there is an option to save a report in an earlier version.

If there is, then you can make changes and then just save the customised report into your 'Actinic Ecommerce v4' folder.

The problem is that I have not bought Crystal Reports yet, and that before buying it I wanted to know if it would work
(During my searches on the net I only found versions 8.5 or 9 of this software, but no version 7 )

If you buy 8.5 you can design the reports and then 'save as' version 7. One snag with this is that Crystal is happy to let you develop using 8.5 features and gives no errors when you save as but then when you try to run the report using the V7 dlls it just gives an error (usually database errors) and then stops.

I believe that you can buy V7 from crystal decisions but you would have to call the sales team and discuss it with them. When I last tried to do this (2 years ago now) it was only being shipped as the English version.

The V3 reports use either crystal report 5 or crystal reports 6 (depending on the version of v3 in use).

Well I guess I'll have to make it with Access and some macros it will be longuer but less expensive (as I already own Access)
