Search Engine Indexing

I have registered my website with google last year and have had only a few of my pages indexed. These only appear to be the top level pages, ie Site map, home page, info page and the first page of the catalog. Shouldn't more of my catalog sections have been indexed by now and if so what could I have possibly done wrong? What are Robot.txt files and should I have one on my site? Any help would be much appreciated.

There are plenty of posts already in this forum that should help you.

If you want people to look at your site in particular, you could always try posting in the 'any other business' section that might be more appropriate than V7 support.
