    Upload problems

    Hi,

I am running V7 Developer with a 512K broadband connection from BT/Plus Net. We have recently moved our site http://www.stinkyinkshop.co.uk onto a dedicated host (which is very fast). We have always suffered from upload problems with Actinic, but since the start of March we have been unable to do any uploads at all. I take a snapshot at the end of each day and import that onto my laptop at home which then uploads the entire site in less than 1 hour.

I have done speed tests at the office and we get 250K upload speed, changed the Microfilters and Router, been onto my ISP and guess what?, there is no fault of their line!.

My settings in the Advanced Network settings are as follows:
    Use Passive FTP transfer (ticked)
    Ignore Transfer errors (ticked)

Everything else is disabled. Am I going stir crazy? Any ideas please?

    Possibly firewall problems.

What happens when you run the Network Test (in Advanced / Network Setup)?

      Test OK

      Hi Norman,

It tests OK. The uload goes along to fulltext.fil and then the program stops responding. The file is about 5Meg, but works fine from my home laptop?.

Hmmm... Not sure about that file size. I've never seen a .fil bigger than 1Mb.

          Norman,

there are LOTS of ink cartridges, which could increase .fil file size.

John, I'd try using advanced FTP, increase the timeout.

Remembering that you said you went to a dedicated server, perhaps you're getting ftp timeouts because of default ftp timeout settings...

Other than that, I'd suggest signing for a TRIAL account with another host and uploading there.... and running traceroutes between you and your dedicated server.

            Upload successful

            Hi Chaps,

Thank you for your prompt help, I've enabled enhanced FTP and it has gone up like smoke this afternoon.

            Once again thanks
