    Catalog Freezing on Website Upload

I have Actinic Catalog 6.0.2.1.0.0CNNA. When I am uploading or refreshing my website it gets to the end of the "Checking Search Indices" and the status bar reads "Creating Remote Directory Structure" and the bar under is full, then it freezes and you have to end task on the program. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks in advance, Benjamin.

Have you got Norton Internet Security? I have had this happen quite a lot as Norton thinks it is being attacked by a trojan and stops the upload?

      McAfee Security Center

Well I did just recently (Same Day) Re-Subscribe McAfee Security Center(virus, privacy, firewall, spam). I thought that might be the problem but I have tried disabling it and updating with no success. I was using all the same products before and it was working fine. After the reinstall is when I noticed the problem. Is there something else I can try besides disabling the functions of those programs? What did you do to get yours to work? Thanks, Benjamin.

Okay it was McAfee, it seems all of my FTP abilities were gone. Thanks to the support here at actinic.com I was able to find the whole of the problem. Then I contacted McAfee and after about 3 hours of irrelivent questions from there Tech Support I was able to fix the problem myself. Thanks guys.

Message from Actinic Tech:"First thing you want to do is go to Advanced > Network Setup and run a test, to see whether any of the parameters have changed. Its possible that you web hosting provider made some internal changes that is causing this.
After this, do a Web > Refresh. The program hangs usually when its is having a problem connecting to the server. Its is actually timing out, waiting for a specified period before retrying. If this happens, simply let it hang for 10 mins and then check to see whether it pops you any error msgs."

Must admit, posting re my Norton is on my things to do list. Though I mostly work with V7 now. Sometimes the upload works fine, othertimes it freezes with various trojan messages. As it becomes unresponsive I have to force close actinic, re-open and upload again.

Can you post the fix here in case anyone else has the same problem? I remember a similar situation in the past where the only option that semed to work was to uninstall the offending software.

With Norton, if you go to the 'Options' and click on 'Internet Worm Protection' there is a 'Program Control' button where you can add 'Catalog.exe' as an allowed application.

Chris, not on 2003.. About to change to 2005 later today, so will try.. It just stopped working properly about a month ago, so something must have changed somewhere.
