Actinic Is Ruining My Life :)

    Hi all,

Finding this community looks like a godsend, great job and I hope to make my own useful contribution.

We have recently purchased an online business that is built with actinic. I am a dreamweaver man myself and knievely thought edited and changing the site would be pretty easy. However, I have found that actinic really does not make it easy to do any editing outside of actinic intself.

I know that maybe we need to look at gettin actinic v7 developer that has dreamweaver extensions. However, at £600 I am kinda hoping that some of you guys may have been through this scenario and found some work arounds.

My current thinking is that if you take the primary templates and edit them in dreamweaver and then put them back where they belong this should do the trick. However, from previous experience with other carts systems, dreamweaver can change certain form object names and the like.

I am gonna give this theory a test run soon.

Any ideas on this or where I can get some "better" looking templates than the standard one then please let me know.

    Thank You

    Hi there,

I teach the "Design and Implementation" course in Actinic, and the 1st part of the course covers editing Act_Primary.html within Dreamweaver. To be honest when using dreamweaver 4 i have not seen what you have experienced.

I would suggest having a read on the following guide.. Its the developer getting starter guide, which explains how the templates system works. Also Actinic v5 does have the dreamweaver extension, but this was for Actinic Developer v5.

Any ideas on this or where I can get some "better" looking templates than the standard one then please let me know.
For version 6 and 7 we have implemented more templates, which some members of the community use. You can get some templates from our partners. But you will need to pay for them.

We have some themes HERE which we can adjust to meet your needs.

As Nadeem has said I have used Actinic & Dreamweaver together with no problems.

        Thanks Guys

OK thanks for your time. I will have another mess about at the weekend and see how I get on.

You mentions V5 does have a dreamweaver extension however, only for developer.

We have V5 Catalogue, will the dreamweaver extension not work with catalogue ?

        Kind Regards

          Hi Kane,

I'm afraid the dreamweaver extension only gets supplied with Actinic Developer for Version 5, so you would not have this for Catalog.
