Product properties Tab > Searchable?

Dear All

What purpose does the 'Searchable' column on the product properties tab serve? CUSTOMVAR txt files included for each product don't appear to be searched at all.

When should I check this box?

They add extra Drop Down lists in the Advanced Search.

You have to enable these via View / Business Settings / Search Settings / Searchable Properties.

E.g. An estate agent may use searchable properties for House Type, #Bedrooms, #Bathrooms, etc.

i see how it works now - (unfortunately for the site I'm working on) it produces a drop down list of the txt files (many in my case).

Do you know if it is possible to have a 'select all' option of the drop down (and/or better still hide the list but still have the txt files searchable?

Incidentally I have learnt that a (painstaking) alternative is to enter keywords in Extended Information text box on the properties tab.
