Due to using xp professional service pack 2 on previewing my site I get active content warning messages (do you want to install active content). I realise that this would put potential customers off. I have checked numerous other actinic sites that do not produce this warning. My question is how would I develop my site in such a way that it too did not invoke this warning.

Hi Stephen,

there is a thread already about this - basically the error only appears in the preview mode and will not appear when uploaded to a site. You can also change your settings in IE to ignore/accept the active content to remove the preview nag

I used to get the same ActiveX content warning messages when previewing my site on my home machine (I was using Windows XP Home Service Pack 2).

However, when I used the instructions in the Actinic Advanced User's guide (Appendix A) to set up a standalone demo version on my machine, by turning my machine into a virtual server - the messages no longer occurred upon running the site. Now, having successfully uploaded my site to a remote server, when I visit my site live on the internet there are no 'install ActiveX warnings' to worry about.

Therefore, I think it must be just something that occurs when previewing your website, and I think in fact it may depend on the Design Theme you have set up for your brochure pages (if you have Store Sections or Cart Details set up for example). I suspect it has to do with the fact that there are no CGI/Perl scripts set up when you preview the store but I'm not an expert on the subject.

Hi there

This issue only appears when you are running an offline javascript, then you will get IE trying to block the script. As you are uploading to your site, IE thinks you are online, therefore it okay to run the script.
This issue only comes from previewing site, as its offline previewing.

Thanks for this but it's interesting to note that it remains a 'feature' of v9.01.

It's nothing really to do with Actinic. Any HTML page you try to view from your own disk drive will pop up this warning if it contains any JavaScript or other programming languages.
