    Database problems using Access 2003?

I have an outstanding problem logged with support (since 28th Feb!!!) - I cannot export/import without getting duplicate fields. Their latest suggestion is there seems to be a bug to do with fragments containing links.

As a lot of people seem to be having problems with the database, I wondered how many other with a problem are using the "new" Access 2003? As Actinic is still in 2000 format, could there be a link...? (I'm not too happy with Access 2003)

I know it sounds off-the-wall, but, from 30+ years in the industry, I have found it is often something apparently unrelated that is the common cause of a problem.

I would appreciate your comments as I know Actinic have not asked this question of their users.

    Hello Anthea,

I'm using Access 2003 with the ActinicCatalog.mdb file in order to generate some html or .js files and so far I've not noticed any bug.
However I have not made any import / export so far so that may be why everything work

It's unlikely to be a bug in Access. How are you trying to import the data? Perhaps if you run through what you are doing and what the files are like you are trying to import, we could perhaps see what is happening.

I posted this as a question on another thread (no answers yet!).

If I do a hierarchical export, then IMMEDIATELY, without touching anything (honest, guv!) re-import the file I get loads of duplicate record errors. Actinic support have got as far as saying it is a bug to do with links in fragments getting treated like products and therefore generating duplicate products. They have been promising a work-around for about 4 weeks!

The problem is, I don't want a bodge - I would like it to work properly so I can export a file and, for example, do a visual check that similar records have the same layouts etc, to ensure consistency through the site. It would be useful to do bulk updates with Excel... so I'm getting desperate and clutching at Access straws!
