    Template Upgrader - Reassurance Needed!

    Hi

I am still using Version 6, but have sold myself on the benefits of V7 and am trying to convince myself that the upgrade won't turn my life into a living nightmare.

My main concern is that I have developed my website piecemeal over 3 years or so, and now have some very modified templates, but of course no real record of what changes have been made other than my own dodgy memory. I am also using several different versions of the same template in different parts of the store, which I am guessing might cause problems when the templates are upgraded. Plus, all the templates now have names which bear no resemblance to the original names.

Since my store has around 10,000 products with lots of sections and sub-sections I cannot contemplate any kind of 'manual' upgrade, so would be relying on the Version 7 template-upgrader utility working properly.

Can anyone reassure me that upgrading the templates really is as easy as Actinic imply, or is the reality that lots of legwork is required too?

    Many thanks in advance

Why not try the demo software and see as the Actinic V7 files are kept seperate from the previouse versions, just import a snapshot and play

Actually I did intend to do that but for some reason the demo software stopped working one day into it's 30 day trial period, and of course I cannot now run another copy. I was able to try all the features and convince myself I wanted the upgrade, but then the demo died and as wasn't able to go any further. I've read the upgrade guide cover-to-cover, so I know what should happen, but can also imagine some of the things that can go wrong. Also, for some reason I've always struggled to create a working Snapshot of my current site, which means I might not have a proper backup should I hit problems when upgrading.

Anyone got any experiences to share of having gone through the process?

      Thanks

I have recently upgarded a couple of v6 sites and must admit I was really happy with the outcome. These never had too much custom bits and pieces but I just used the template upgrader and chose to upgrade everything and all was fine.

If you want to get our number from our site and call me I can tell you how we carried this out.
