    Problems uploading site.

I have been trying to update my web site (www.absolutelybikes.com) for the past couple of days now but I keep getting failures 'sending base files'. Initially it would hang sending 'A000.cat' and at this point I contact my hosting company who have not been able to find a problem. I then tried a full refresh and now the process hangs 'Sending: bb000000.pl'.
I have also tried a test in the 'Advanced FTP set-up' but keep getting messages saying not authorised to the CGI-BIN directory.

    Please help!

Try enabling "Use relative cgi-bin URL's" in ADVANCED > NETWORK SETUP

Then do WEB > REFRESH WEBSITE

        Hi there,

Looking at the site, its seems you are running 6.1.4 DNNA, might i suggest in upgrading to 6.1.5 EGRA, as this build contain a new method of ftp called "Enhanced FTP". His opens up one connection and keeps it alive. I would recommend you upgrading and then using this method.

You can download the latest patch at: http://www.actinicdownloads.com/v6/

        Kind Regards

          Windows to blame?

          Absbike,

If you use Windows XP, then I may have a possible solution for you....

I too experienced FTP upload problems last week, resulting in a total inability to upload or refresh any of my Actinic sites. I also could not use my FTP software (Cute-FTP XP) to upload ANY files to any of my non-Actinic sites.

This confirmed to me that it was NOT an Actinic fault, so I started to look elsewhere.....

It appeared that only my XP machine was affected as my old Win98 PC could FTP quite happily.

I thought about the previous few days and remembered that some 'Critical' Microsoft Hotfix/Updates has been applied automatically. I looked them up on their site and found that one, KB893066, modified TCP/IP.

This rang alarm bells, so I looked on Google and, even though the fixes had been out only a day or two, there were many tales of woe concerning systems playing up after application of KB893066.

I decided to uninstall the fix via Add/Remove Programs (with 'Show Updates' checked) and once I restarted and retried all was well with FTP once more. Problem solved! Just to be sure, I installed the fix again and retried Actinic and FTP - again failure. So I'm 100% convinced that KB893066 was to blame.

I've now prevented my system from automatically installing this particular fix and Actinic upload/refresh and Cute-FTP now work perfectly again.

This, of course, may not be your problem but it is another possible solution to try - it worked for me....

            Problem solved, thanks to Greg.

            Greg,

Many thanks for posting this fix, I have completely refreshed which took a while but everything is back to normal now.
I should have thought about the Windows update but it has been a while since I uploaded so I was concentrating on indentifying any issues on the server or with my firewall.

            Anyway thanks again. Nik

              A big thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. I had the same problem and your suggestion fixed it. I would have never been able to find it by myself. Thanks again.
