The code actinic outputs is very untidy and when i modify the templates and then view the source i find it hard to find certain parts,

Is there a way to force a newline in the template files so i can tidy my code?

The compact html setting on the miscellaneous tab of design options controls this. You can untick it to see the html with spacing and comments while you are working on the files, and then tick it again once you are finished to help your pages load faster.

You can output regular HTML code at Design | Options | Misc | Generation Options | uncheck "compact HTML"
