Free Product / Gift over £50

Im trying to use the discount feature in actinic so when people spend £50 they will get the option to add this item into there cart, the only way i can get it to work is to create a product group with every product in it.
    1) So i create a product group called ' ALL' and put all my products in it.
    2) Create a new discount called free gift, select it so when they spend over 50 quid and the product group to all, but when i come to select what product i want to give them as a free gift i can because theres no listed, probably because there all in the 'All' Product Group.

And because all the products are in the group called 'All' it stops me from doing 3 for 2 offers because that product is already in the group called 'All' am i doing something wrong ? Some one must have done this ?

What have you got the reward type set as? Try setting to %off extra product - set to 100 and the product drop down list should then be available.

But that still doesn't allow me to run 3 for 2 offers at the same time as running a free gift over £50 though. For you to be able to do that as far as i can see you would need to put every product you sell in a group called 'ALL' and products cant be in two groups at one time I can't see any other way of doing this, All i want to be able to do is say if cart value = x then from a drop down box i can choose what gift to give them in the discount screen. You can give them money of it there cart value reaches a certain amount.

Try setting up a product group called "Everything" with all products added. In the discounts box set your 3 for 2 offer and set the Product Group to "Everything" - in the £50.00 Off discount also set product group to "Everything" - ensure the only one discount per order is not checked.

Nope - that will then give 3 for 2 off everything - ignore the above

                Hi James,

Okay lets start from the beginning, what is it you are trying to do?
If a customer purchase as spent over £50, you want to give them a free gift? What free gift, is it just one product, or a group of products?
If it is a group of products, then you would simply need to create a new product group in "View | Product Group" and create a 'free product' group. If its just one product, then in "View | Product Group", simply have the product assigned as "Unassigned Products", so you have no associated these products in any group. Then you should be able to assign that product as a reward in "View | Discount and Surcharges Settings | Cart Contents", under the "Rewards | Product".

                Kind Regards

Hello Nadeem, That is correct, If a customer spends a total of £50 with us on anything on our site we want to give them a free gift, one product we have selected. How do i assign an item to Unassigned Products. After reading your post i tried creating an empty product group called free gift, then i assigned my free product, Please see the screen shots i have done of the two screens are they correct ?
                  Thanks

                    Hi James

Nearly there, Okay for what you want to achieve you would need in your "Free product" group, is to assign all the products except for 1 product. That one product will be the free product which is left alone.

So in your "View | Product Group", all products which are members of the "Free Product", are the product where customer would purchase it, then the only product which is NOT the member, an unassigned product would be the free product you would give.

I'm afraid this is the only way to do this currently in version 7. Actinic works on product groups and rewards.

                    Kind Regards

Thats what i thought nadeem, so i can't run two offers at the same time then. Cause if a product is one group it can't be in another, and as i currently run 3 for 2 offers those products cant be in another product group. It would be good if we could assign products to more than one group, Or When the cart value reaches 'x' you can give them 'y'

                        Hi James,

As a sort of workaround, how about just adding some text to the site stating that a free gift will be added to the order if over £50. You could just add a hard-coded piece of text to the checkout page as well with this information, stating that it will not be shown in the basket but will be delivered with the goods.

Then you can just keep your 3 for 2 offers as before.

                        Regards,
                        Susan.
