    Lost items in move

    Hi guys

I'm a noob so bear with me.

I built a website with about 2000 products, in about 8 categories, with about 30 subcategories.

today I tried to move one of the categories, up the sequence in the tree of developer, when the app froze, after about a minute I closed actinic down,
and when I restarted actinic, everything in that category was lost, about 1000 products !

My question is since I was to stupid to do a site back up, or snapshot,
is there a way of getting the items back from the website thats allready on the web, or is all lost.

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    ( Mongo ) Steve

    Bad news.

There's no way of getting them back directly unless you have a backup, or a text file of products or some other data source. Sorry.

All you can get from the website is the text and prices. Basically copy and paste type info. There's no way you can recreate the database from what's online. This is an all too common request from people who failed to make any form of backup in spite of Actinic giving them two different ways to do this whenever they close it.

Look in your Site1 folder for Backup.mdb or Previous.mdb as these are old backups left behind if you ever exited in the past via the Database Backup option. If you've either of these, you could install Actinic on a spare system, then copy that Backup.mdb or Previous.mdb onto that spare and rename it to replace ActinicCatalog.mdb. Don't do this on your live system as this backup may be too old and would revert your entire site to an ancient version.

        Thanks Guys

        Thanks for the quick answers,

I did find a 1 month old back up I had done, so all items are back, now all I have to do is adjust for price increases, and stock counts.

But I also found a hierarchical file I had made the same day, and when I tried to import it, I got an error saying actinic was expecting xx amount of lines and found xx so no import will be done.

        Thanks again

          Hi Steve,

We need some more information regarding this, its possible that the image location is incorrect. Perhaps you could attach the hierarchical file to this thread, so we can take a look into it?
