    Links Page Problems

    Hi All,

    Here I am again, going bald, tearing my hair out (not much there to begin with )

    I have created a "links" page for my store. The way I did this was to create a new brochure page and then add the links as fragments.

    Each Fragment is a different link:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Title = Gifts From Sarah
    Layout = Image Only
    Image = path to image
    Link Tab:
    Link ticked
    URL=http://www.giftsfromsarah.com
    Image Clickable: Ticked
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Each one is laid out exactly the same, now comes this one...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Title = Go Daddy
    Layout = Text Only
    Text:
    !!<<center>
    <a target="_godaddy" href="http://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/default.asp?isc=crgd011">
    <img src="https://imagesak.godaddy.com/aaa/banners/ani_468x60_girltank1.gif">
    </a>
    </center>>!!
    Link Tab: Not used
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Everything shows up correctly on the preview screen, shows up when I do a local preview (Web|Offline Preview)

    Uploads with no errors.

    Click Web|Browse Website

    Click on Links from the brochure page.
    All Links show up correctly EXCEPT the godaddy link (the one that used the text only layout..)

    What am I doing wrong?

    Preview from Actinic
    Screen Shot of Web site

    Thanks

    It does appear on your website Links Page Eagle. Maybe you need a page refresh.

      I hate to say it but I think it's a case of your browser just not dispalying that particular image/link.
      It seems to be happening more and more often and is mentioned, even on these forums, regularly.
      I have trouble with numerous links/images on my site where some folk can see them and others (including me) cannot.
      Thre has been some mention that it could be due to Norton.
      I have noticed that, if I disable my Norton Internet Security, many of the images reappear.
      Not sure anyone has found a way round it though, I'm afraid.
      Sometimes re-editing the image and saving as something else can help.
      That's fine if it's a product image but it's not something you want to be doing with someone else's banner image really. Who has the time!!?
      Sorry, not very helpful but sympathy, if it helps!

        Hi All,

        You are correct. I just viewed the web site from one of my other workstations on the network and WaLa there it was... Sheesh this is getting nuts with all the security this security that. It is getting so that you cannot really count on anything block one thing and 20 other things that you don't want blocked get blocked. I still haven't figured out why it is being blocked on my pc but not the other one. Both have the same version of Norton Internet Firewall, and both are through the same router.

        Before I left this message I had asked my daughter who by the way lives in Texas and I am in Pennsylvania if she could see the banner and she couldn't so I assumed, albet wrongly, that you couldn't see it anywhere. She also has the same version of Norton Internet security.

        It is really getting to the point, I guess, where you have to just throw images up and if some get them then that's a good thing. If some don't Oh Well add it to the cost of doing business.

        Thanks to all of you that responded for allowing my hair to start growing again.

          You might be interested in this (partial) list of banned urls by Norton Internet Security:

          http://www.partscatalog.com/navnotice.htm

          You will see that anything with /banners/ is automatically banned - so that gets rid of your godaddy image.

          I think I'm right in saying that the latest version does not ship with ad-blocking on as default, but there are a hell of a lot or punters out there who have ad-blocking enabled and probably just think they are seeing a crap website.

          <edit>OOps - didn't mean to imply in any way that your website is crap! I meant if they see a site with a lot of gaps they probably just think it is design error rather than lots of images being stripped out</edit>

            Jo, I did not take it as though you were saying my website was crap. I understand fully what you are getting at. The funny part of this whole thing is that even when I disable NIS I still cannot see the banner. That is what was confusing me. I am looking into the possiblity that Ad-Aware is doing something to block it even though that too has been shut off. It has been my experiance that as soon as I disable NIS the images will show up if that was the cause. This is not happening with this particular banner.

            Thanks
