Free shipping for select customer groups

I know it's not possible to assign different free shipping weights for individual accounts, but is it possible to assign different free shipping weights for different customer groups? Or maybe just a work around? The only solution we can come up with is to maintain two completely separate copies of the catalog for each customer group.

Hi Matthew,

I'm afraid shipping works on a global basis, therefore the shipping would apply for registered customers and unregistered customers.

I will add this thread to our wishlist to have free shipping on customer groups.
