Adding a postage surcharge for one item

    Hi,

We have a shop up and running which is going really well. We sell books and audio CDs etc. and one of the books is a two parter (vol 1 & vol 2). Each one sells for £11.99 and has an individual product page but we have added an component which says 'add other volume for £9.99' so that they can order both and get a discount.

This works fine until we get to the postage side of it. Actinic sees it as just one item and so the customer only gets charged for one item (we have postage and packing set up by quantity for simplicity - and we don't really want to change this).

Basically, is there a way of getting it to add another line item when they click 'add vol 2' so that the postage is correct?

We don't really want to increase the price for the extra book via the component page as this will be confusing for the customer to see their reduced book at a non-reduced cost and also we ship to overseas which is a different postage cost per item than the UK.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Cheers

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

The only way to get Actinic to see two product would be in the components to be associated to a hidden product. Have you done this?
Create a hidden "vol 2" product, then within the component of the master product, simply associate it to the hidden the product.

Thanks for your response. In the vol 1 component we had associated it with vol 2 and vice versa. Is this what you mean or do we need to add an additional product (which is set to be hidden from the website) so that in effect, there would be two of each vol 1 and vol 2 - one hidden and one viewable by the user, with the component of each being associated with the hidden version of the other? Why is there a difference between associating the component with a hidden product rather than a viewable one?

      Please clarify. Thanks again.

        Hi Andy

Yes that what i mean, having the component links to a physical product, which in the last post, you seem to do. This what not mentioned in the previous posting.
What your website URL, so i can see this in action?

        Kind Regards
