2 annoying "bugs" or "quirks" about V7!

Customer places order for 1 x raincover.
Then calls and asks for it to be altered to 2 instead. No problem (prob not an uncommon request)
So, I go into orderlines and click "increase qty" at bottom.
Window that comes up has a box that says ""quantities ordered" which shows "1"
So, logically, I increase this to 2!
Now, it's ADDED a manual add item adjustment of 2 MORE! bringing the total to 3.
I see that the increase qty option is obviously supposed to replace the "add item" funciton by removing the need to search for the item ref but, given the prompts, it owuld have been more logical to use it to do what it say... INCREASE the qty from 1 to 2? Don't you think?

OK, gripe number 2! Now I have added the additional 2 items, wrongly, I need to delete them.
    I can't!
I can't decrease the quantity for the new added item without it looking a mess. If I use the "decrease qty" option for the added 2, it will only let me cancel one, not remove it altogether from the order, so my order (invoice etc) will look a mess now!
And, I just know that once I start cancelling (which is the only thing I can do now) and shipping, that the order is going to hang about in my pending tab and I'll have to export it to get it to leave!
So, to summarise! "increase qty" option should allow you to edit the ORIGINAL qty, not add an addition qty (IYSWIM!)
And you should be able, from the catalog processing screen, to delete any items added using this function (and the "add item" function) altogether without having to "cancel" them.
    Rant over :-)

    Incidentally, I was right.
I now have 3 ordered items. 1 cancelled, 2 shipped.
Order not showing as shipping, nor will it move to pending tab
Is this going to be fixed as it's been raised as an issue several times before?

Not being able to delete cancelled items from the invoice has always been an untidy issue with Actinic. I'd like it improved too. (Not that my opinion will make any difference Tracey ).

        Hi Tracey

I will ask development this, but i would say they are 'quirks' not bugs within the software. But i shall see what development say. Regarding the 2nd post, i will find out.

          Hi Tracey,

Just got some information back. Okay regarding the following:

          Incidentally, I was right.
I now have 3 ordered items. 1 cancelled, 2 shipped.
Order not showing as shipping, nor will it move to pending tab
Is this going to be fixed as it's been raised as an issue several times before?
It is a bug, which is going to be fixed. We are hoping to have it fixed for 7.0.5.

Regarding the main questions, here is what they had written concerning the reason for doing it this way.

The concern was that if we let the merchant start freely editing the original item lines (or indeed the confirmed offline add item) then it becomes unclear what was originally ordered and what changes have been made. We try to maintain some sort of audit trail.

Another issue is that product terms may have changed since the original order was placed - prices may have changed, discount terms may be different.
I hope this answers your question.

          Kind Regards

I haven't even heard of 7.0.4 yet. I guess there must be some maintenance releases coming down the pipeline.

              Thanks for that Nadeem.
I can see their point about not deleting/editing items. It's unfortunate that, when it comes to editing offline added items, it leave little (or no) room for human error! Especially given how confusing the "increase qty" option comes across.
Good to know the bug will be fixed anyway
              Cheers

                Good point, Mike!
7.0.5... due for release.... sometime in the distant future?
I am surprised the a bug like the one mentioned in this thread has not been sorted before now as it's been brought up many time in the past!
Any ideas when 7.0.4 is expected then? Must be fairly imminent if you're already earmarking bugs for 7.0.5?

We were putting together a new maintenance patch called 7.0.4 with lots of fixes in (including the fix for the issue you have raised) but then this problem with snapshots came to light (the one where if you import a snapshot, generated store files are copied into the Site1 folder rather than the SiteHTML folder and they are uploaded to the site incorrectly). So we decided to put out an 'emergency' 7.0.4 release to fix that one issue, and then 7.0.5 will be out later - normally a matter of months depending on how many fixes are in the solution.

We are just completing final internal testing before a short beta program is announced.

                    LOL
I've come across this thread while on a hunt for this bloomin' shipping problem.
I read it and thought "that sounds recently familiar.....why??"

I remember reporting this increase quantity thing as a 'bug' (quirk, whatever!) when beta testing 9.0.3!!!

Please don't tell me it's never been fixed since May 2005?!

                      Ermm OK we wont

Actually this answer for an audit trail is crap IMHO. You should have the option to delete it. The customer does not care what you have done all they want are the bits they ordered. All this does is open the door for questions about whats this on an order.

I have not done this for a while so maybe it is not there in V9, i always start a new offline order because its so untidy

Right, I've actually had chance to check this in V9 now (will link a V9 thread to this shortly)

Took an order with a single orderline for 1 item
                        clicked 'increase qty'
Changed the 'ordered' '1' (default) to '2'

this then presented me with the orderlines as attached which is bad bad bad, IMO
It very much looks, from the orderlines, as if there are THREE ordered although, from the totals, it seems not.
However, it DID decrease the stock by 2

So it's not increasing the qty at all, it's adding a whole NEW orderline.
I just can't believe that I moaned about this over 3 years ago and it's still the same (who am I kidding, I CAN believe it but, as you can see in this thread, we were told it'd be fixed!!)

It's going to catch people out...STILL

just to wind you up even more, cos i like to see another female in full rant mode... why didn't you follow it up.... 3 years ago?

I may be able to answer that, cos i often go off on a rant, when the rant is over my mind is empty, hence no follow up

                          rant - what rant

                            Good question
I guess because I was (we were) told it was going to be 'fixed', I blindly believed that it would be and didn't check it.
I'd completely forgotten about this thread/issue but I do recall the problem popping up from time to time and probably just put it down to user error.

It's only the fact that I remember mentioning it on testing day that made me post again on this thread last night.

Maybe it's just me who expects this to work differently

I'd agree, if i wanted to increase quantity by 1 having ordered 1, I'd expect to see an amended orderline of 2.
