Add to cart/cart empty

I just received a call that people are putting selections in cart, it's there, they continue shopping and the cart is empty. I tried adding an item and then going to check out and it says the cart is empty. I just upgraded to Developer but to the best of my recollection I have not updated the site so it should be Catalog V7.
I searched forum for "cart empty" but the problems don't seem to be the same...or I'm really tired and missed the similarity.

URL's: www.solutions-marketing.net or www.alldawgs.com (which bumps to the previous).

Help urgently needed and greatly appreciated.

It's a strange one allright.

It's definitely broken, but from what I can see it's nothing to do with browsers and security settings or clock settings (the common culprits). Your site is dropping the cookie onto the PC OK it just doesn't seem to be picking it up again.

I'm haven't a clue what's happening here. Maybe someone at actinic has seen this before.

Me neither. But, I know of at least two orders I'm losing. How many people haven't taken the time to write. Also should have mentioned that when you click "return to shopping" it doesn't return to the page last used but to the top of the site.

Help...please...anyone.

Opened ticket with Sure Solutions and they said the script wasn't running properly. Suggested refreshing site. Tried but got error at Transferring Base Files. "150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list." Only choice is to click OK.
Then got "An error occurred, etc." with list of possible causes and recommendation to abort. It then says, "File bb000001.pl"
Effectively I've got a dead site and people wanting to order. Any ideas since Sure Solutions is quite probably gone for the night.
Thanks to anyone with an idea...plan of action. (By the way, explain it for a dummy so I'll have a chance of following any instructions).

About your original problem on this thread - I've seen exactly the thing you describe and although I can't be sure it's the same cause in your case, my own fix might be worth a try.

Just reported on it in this thread about browser compatibility troubles since upgrading to V7 - http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=13715

Cart contents got lost until I changed the Cart URL and CGI-BIN URL's to contain the same "www." prefix as the rest of the site. Changing them now sees the cart keeping the contents properly.

It looks like browsers with a "allow cookies only for originating server" setting set have been treating http://www.clarity.it and http://clarity.it as different servers and not allowing cookies across the two.

I see your catalog pages are http://www.solutions-marketing.net but your Buy buttons call http://solutions-marketing.net.

Like I say, this might well not be your problem, but it's quick to try it in Advanced/Network Setup.

Fixed

Problem is seemingly solved. First, script was corrupted somehow so refresh fixed AFTER getting host to delete 485 meg of stored e-mail that appeared when we don't store any e-mail on the site...
