Displaying total number of products in individual sections

Hi - i wonder if this is possible. I would like to display the total number of products listed differenet product sections on my web site.

Currently products are displayed in a 2 column format and there are upto 120 products in each section - i would like the user to understand the total number of products available when entering each section.

Each section has its own customised template (based on Act_Primary.html)

Any ideas would be helpful -

Thanks for the link - however - yes i could go the MS Access route but i am sure my client would doesn't have the skill to keep on updating the site via a manual cut and paste - (they will be add/deleting products) so is my question is:

is there nothing a like more automated availble out there?? Any ideas would be appreciated
