    Upload problem with Norton

I a small problem with my uploads, since upgrading the latest version of Norton Antivirus the worm protection seems to prevent me uploading my store.
When I turn it off it works no problem. I have been putting up with it as its no big deal turning it off from time to time.
But due to problems this week with people managing to buy more items that I can supply I am planning to use the Mole End program for keeping my stock levels correct, this is going to be a problem if Norton wont let the uploads occur and I dont really want to leave worm protection off all the time.

Any of you also have this problem and have found a work around?
I have actinic in the allowed sites in Nortons setting btw.

    Cheers

ps I know the site looks very basic but I am no programmer and am concentrating on getting stock listed at the moment.

Do you get a specific error report informing it is a worm protection fault?

It is more likely the firewall is causing issues with upload rather than the Antivirus. If you have the Norton Security Suite (Antivirus and Firewall) also check the firewall settings are set to "normal" and that the Actinic program is set to all for all user locations (particularly the default).

Make sure you do not have another firewall running at the same time (eg ZomeAlarms) as this can also cause a conflict with Norton

i cant actually try it out here at the office but when I run the upload it goes through most of the operations and then stops when it actually want to move files to the site. Cant remember the wording.
THe only thing I do to get it to upload is go into the norton options and disable worm protection for 15 mins. Then I can upload fine.
I am pretty sure I tried it with the firewall off and that made no difference.

        Hi Paul

I have found out, even if you have turned off a firewall, some of them do prevent Actinic from uploading. What version of the operating system are you running, If its XP, then check to see if XP firewall is also giving you problems and allow Actinic in the expection list. You may find you are running two firewalls.

If the above does not work, then please try to get us more information like the exact error message and what version of Norton are you running

          Norton System Works 2005

          Hi,

I am using Norton System Works 2005 Version: 8.02 Build: 6 and I was having the same problems with Norton worm blocking stopping Actinic from uploading. The only way I got Actinic to work with System Works 2005 was modify the worm protection defaults.

To do this you need to select Anti Virus from the options menu of Norton System Works, and then in the Norton Anti Virus options window you need to select internet worm protection from the left hand menu. Then in the customize your settings section click the program control box and add Actinic to the Program Control list with internet access set to Permit All.
