    Using Actinic to list property

I've been asked by a friend who wants to list property on his website and because I use Actinic wonders if this can be used?

He also sells tangible goods too, but the majority of ‘products’ would be houses , so the 'shopping cart' would be used primarily to request information.

Also on this subject, could he have multiple images of the houses?

I suggested there is probably better software out there to do the job, what do you think?

This is very possible and if I'm not wrong, an example situation to explain the custom properties used a property search. Not sure if that example still features in the guides.

Anyway, rather than a Buy button you might adapt it to be a 'Request more info on this property' and the popup pages could list further information or images.

You'd be using the software as content management rather than shopping. Definitely worth doing though.

Should be no reason why you can't use Actinic quite easily - in fact I have seen several sites already that use Actinic for selling houses (requesting more info etc) - it just acts as a HTML database thats all - may need some tweaking to get the extra images etc but that should not be to much of a chore

http://www.propertyshop.com/ I have implemented for a client. It's an ASP (Application Service Provider) application that is entirely web based.

It does everything from backend management (creating schedules, arranging viewings) to publishing the web site. I implemented it at http://www.nairnpropertycentre.com/

Still have some work to do but my client is well chuffed. It costs £100 per month (£25pw) so will cost in the long run but it saves any large upfront development fees.

Thats correct. I must admit I was very surprised at the way it worked. My client runs his entire operation through it. Thier was a charge to integrate my design into the software but only £250 I think it was.

If you call propertyshop they will give you a log in to the back system so you can play around with it.
