    actiniccatalog.mdb

I know that Access does not let your actiniccatalog.mdb be more than 2GB.
Is there a way to alter that?. what if my database is bigger?

    2nd question:
How come , when I delete items from my Actinic catalog, the size of the actiniccatalog.mdb does not change?
    hmmmm

Thanks Pin, but what will this do to my data? Will this effect anything? what dose compacting the data means and where can I find out more about it?

      Thanks again for your help

Compacting removes the extra space but not data. When you insert, update and delete, Access is less efficient about the process than true server based databases and so periodically it helps to 'purge' this extra space.

You will likely see dramatic size reductions in the order of 100% (ie it will halve in size).

I'm afraid that this is a limitation of MS Access. If you require a bigger database I can only suggest that you go for a bespoke solution for your site. Of course, the more choices that you have on your products, the more space that will be taken up in the database as there is a row for each 'component', 'attribute' and 'choice' set. Also, if you have a busy site that takes lots of orders, then the database size will increase.

As Pinbrook mentions, compacting the databases every so often will help to keep it as small as possible.
