Variables Only Appear As Text On Custom Page

Howdy. This is probably a really silly question but I've created a custom page on my site that is not supposed to sell anything by resaving the ACT_Primary.html file and editing as I need. (tables with text and images) but when I upload it all the variables appear as text rather than search buttons etc. I've probably missed something blindingly simple but can't see it can anyone help?

I'm guessing you mean this to be a stand-alone page and are uploading it via Advanced / Additional Files (or by hand via your own FTP).

Unless you're using that template as an alternative overall layout template Actinic won't alter it in any way. Files in Advanced / Additional Files are uploaded without any parsing by Actinic.

If you want all the Actinic navigation, etc, then it might be feasible to save one of your normal uploaded pages and edit that copy to strip the products / sections, whatever and add your custom content.
