Discounts inlcuding the VAT?

Im testing discount codes and trying to get one that will offer a certain amount off of the order value, eg £5 off of the TOTAL order Including VAT.

Whether i set it to 'Value Excluding VAT', 'Value Including Defaul VAT', or 'Value including Actual VAT' doesnt seem to make any difference, it keeps taking the £5 off of the price EXCLUDING VAT.

Is there a way to make this take an amount off the total order value Including VAT? there must be something im missing here

Did you completed the checkout or just checked it in the cart? Most of the cases the tax is not known before the checkout which may result the problems your are experiencing.

Ive added a screenshot of the Checkout Pages:

This product is £25.53 + VAT (£30 Inc VAT). The discount is set to be £2 Incluuding the VAT, therefore the customer should end up paying £28 Inc VAT right?

As you can see from the screenshot, it takes the £2 off BEFORE VAT, so instead of £28 Inc VAT it ends up being £27.65 Inc VAT (£23.53 Exc VAT).

Ive tried all 3 VAT settings but they all do the same

This has been discussed before. Unfortunately it cannot be done. Hopefully this will be sorted soon, it just doesn't make sense!

I haven't tried this, but it may work for 1 product. If you create a product group, then add 1 product to it you can apply an amount discount that you set.
