    * Help * Big problem with duplicate products and components

    Hi - I have just upgraded from from v6 to v7.0.3. I have taken this opportunity to delete copies of products from different sections in the shop and to replace them using the duplicate product facility.

    I have a problem when these duplicate products have components.

    OK here goes...

    My original product has a component whereby you have 2 choices - this works fine.

    My first duplicate is exactly the same and works fine also.

    This is where the problem is: My second and third duplicates display the product correctly giving you a choice of components. After making a choice from the component options, and adding the product to the basket the screen displays the products in the basket. For these 2 duplicates the chosen component option is not shown and the additional cost is not included in the product price.

    HELP !!!!!

    For the 3rd duplicate, please can you make sure in the pricing model, it is set to the same as the 2nd or original product. I wonder if its just says "Price of Product Price", rather than "Price of Product and Component Price".

      Hi Nadeem - they are showing products and prices which aregreyed out so they cannot be altered.

      An interesting side note: I have noticed is that if I delete a duplicate and then undelete it the pricing model is not visible at all.

        Hi David,

        Hmm... don't understand this. I would suggest in your opening a ticket with Support on http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm. They would need your snapshot so they can see where the problem is.

          Hello,

          Was there ever a explanation or solution to this? I have similar problems with a site I'm developing in Catalog v7.0.4, and the problem remains having just upgraded to v7.0.5. The problem occurs with one original product and all six of its duplicates, and with two out of six duplicates of another product (the original of which is fine).

          Knowledge Base ref KB604 gives the solution as:-

          "This is normally where the products are entered as attributes or components and the pricing model is incorrectly set up."

          However the products with problems have pricing identically set up to all other products in my site.

            Hi Mark - I do not get a solution to this problem - this was probebly my fault as I did not follow it through to conclusion with the actinic support team. I still have it as something I need to look into but it has dropped down my priority list.

            I did open a ticket with Actinic and got this reply:

            I tried replicating this issue on my PC with v 7.0.3, but everything seems to work fine as designed.
            Could you please try the following steps to see if it helps

            1. Open Actinic, go to 'Housekeeping | Compact Databases' and tick both the options and restart Actinic.

            2. Now, do a complete refresh ('Web | Refresh Website') and check the results

            Also, please let me know which product from which section gives this trouble on your site so that I could check them once you are through with the above steps.
            This did not resolve the problem.

            My Actinic Support Query number was 53657

            Let me know if you have any success with this.

              Thanks for the update. I followed the same advice that you were given but it made no difference. I'll post again here if I find a solution.

                Hi Mark - I have just come across this problem again with a different site and I did a search and came up with these 2 threads posted later on in the year.

                There appears to be a patch available to fix it.

                    Hi Bruce - is there not a patch that will fix this one problem as mentioned in one of the other threads.

                    I have 5 clients sites running under v7.05 - most of which have had script files and templates heavily modified.

                    Upgrading to v6.0 would mean I would have to do a lot of work on each of these sites and also require me to upgrade the software on the client PC's in various locations around the country.

                    ...speaking of which - does the developer version of v8 allow me to run sites under different v8 patch versions?

                      I am afraid, yes you would need to amend the changes on the upgraded version.

                      I am afraid this wouldn't be possible as well. You can only run different versions of the software at the same time on a single PC.
