    Fresh upload problem

    Hi,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I started uploading the catalog via the upload wizard on a new dedicated server and everything was going ok until I got to the part where is says:

Please enter the directory where your web files are located.

    ../ (relative to acatalog)

is what I entered, but I got this error:

"The cgi script does not have the proper access to the catalog web directory. The cgi script does not have the permission to write to the catalog web directory. The catalog web directory is the directory named “acatalog” in the web root directory."

I’ve gone through and made sure that the chomod allows for read, write and execute. I have also tried:
    /
    /var/www/html/home/eco-watch

and it doesn't like any of them. Everything on the site "appears" to be ok.

I have also tried a manual upload and you can view the site and move around via links but whenever you try to use a cgi command (buying, searching etc) then I get an error.

The tech guys for the server say everything is set up and working fine as far as they can see. But they also did say that they are not familiar with Actinic. Does anyone know why I am getting this and what I can do? All help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers...Paul

Who did you give read, write and execute permissions to?

Actinic sometimes needs permissions on the acatalog directory to be 777 which is read, write and execute permisions for owner, group and everyone.

      Hi Mike,

Tried that and unfortunately got the same error code. Any other thoughts would be welcome.

      Cheers...Paul

I thought that might be the case. Often the error actinic generates is only a clue to what the real problem is.

Have you tried running the network setup wizard? Not because you've done anything wrong, but because the wizard often gives clues to potential problems when it fails.

          Hi there

Like what Mike said, please use the network setup wizard, as this does include more information.

          Kind Regards
