CGI script permission on the catalog folder

I have recently purchased Actinic version 7 and have been going through the really fun Network setup wizard today!

We have access to our own web server running windows 2000 server so I have complete control over permissions, cgi etc.

I have manged to work through all other problems but seem to have got unstuck at the last hurdle.

I get the following error at the CGI Path to Catalog Directory step:

The CGI script does not have the proper access to the catalgo web directory. The catalog web directory is the directory named "acatalog" in the web root directory. The CGI script must be able to read, write and delete files in the catalog web directory.

The CGI script does not have permission to write to the catalog web directory.

    Any ideas?

    thanks

    Hi there

Does both you /acatalog/ and /cgi-bin/ have the following permission: Modify, Read & Execute, Read and Write. If not, then please set these permission.

Also you could have a check on our hosting guide. Here is the link. It has a setup guide for IIS5 and 6.

      CGI permissions

      Hello

I have the same problem. But when I try to set permissions using Dreamweaver 8, it says "setting access properties failed for acatalog".

Before that, on the Set Permissions dialog, it says, "This may not work for all servers."

Does this mean we'll need to change it servers?

      We currently use NetBenefit.

        Alan,

It looks like you do not have the necessary rights to change permissions on the server. I would suggest getting in touch with the host, in this case Netbenefit and ask them to change the permissions on the 'cgi-bin' to '755' and on the 'acatalog' folder to '777'. Can you try using another FTP program to see if it then allows you to change the permissions on the folder's ?

        Kind regards,

I had the same problem last week after I uploaded a lot of changes. Couldn't run any CGI scripts. I used the WiseFTP program to access the the server and changed the 'acatalog' folder permisions to read 777 and it solved the problem.
