Is it possible, rather than just the radio buttons and dropdown boxes, to have a customer type a requirement into a text box for a product choice...as in 'What name do you want on your T-Shirt'?

You can use the "Other Info" prompt in product | layout to have user definable input fields

Simon if you are unsure of how to implement this, you could look at the example site from Actinic and in particular for your query, look at the product ‘Bunch of Flowers’, which has the option I think you require.
