Sorry for being a bit thick with this question.

but.. which template do I need to edit in order to remove the buttons and cart on the right hand menu of this theme?

I need to hardcode links in this section but I am having a mare working out which template to edit.

Probably one of the templates containing the word navigation

I think it's actually Act_Primary you will need. Search for NETQUOTEVAR:FOOTERGUIDE and this will bring you to the right part of the template.
