Retrieve Orders - what goes on?

Hi -

Would anybody out there happen to know what happens on the web server when I click on 'Retrieve Orders' to download my orders from the website?

Presumably, there is a special 'orders download' script that runs on the server? What is the name of this script? Does it run from the cgi-bin, like the other scripts - so the URL to it will be something like http://mysite.com/cg-bin/actinic_ord...ad_script.pl??

Hi Pete,

You are quite correct, when you click on 'retrieve order', Actinic runs one of the scripts in the /cgi-bin/ folder via HTTP protocol and that transfer the order onto the Actinic Application.

Thanks for your help. Can you tell me the actual name of the 'orders download' script please?

The reason I ask is that the hosting comany where my Actinic store is hosted are about to enforce something called mod_security on the Unix/Apache server - in testing, I found that with this security turned on, the 'orders download' script when it runs gets blocked and I can't download any orders from the site (I think because the script uses HTTP to try to do things on the server, the security engine is interpreting it as an an attack on the server and so blocks it).

I just need to pass on to my hosting company the name of the 'orders download' script, so that they can write a rule for it that will allow the security engine on the server to let it run, so that I can get my orders (at the moment, the hosting co. have allowed me to turn off the security engine on my Actinic store website, but they will not let me do this forever).

Sure, the script name is called nq00000x.pl (where x represent the number in "Advance | Network Setup | CGI Script ID number).

If somebody at the hosting company now goes to the URL for this script, and tries to run it outside of Actinic Catalog, would this have any disastrous effect on any orders which might be on the server (i.e. like remove them etc). Or will it just give the hosting company an error message with no consequences for me when I come to download my orders in due course properly through the Actinic software?

This is the case. You need to send the security keys from 'Housekeeping | Security' in order to be able to download the orders. Just running the script on the server will have no effect.
