    SSL problem

    Hi

We use Actinic shared SSL and have done for over a year without any problems...until now.

Now our customers get the timeout warning as shown in the attached jpg.

We have had to switch back to Actinic inbuilt encryption and are now paying for a service we can't use..

    Anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

    Steve,

I don't know if this is true of the U.K. but we were contacted by Actinic's U.S. division about two months ago to let us know that they would no longer be selling or supporting Actinic Shared SSL. It is for good reason though, since it is becoming more likely that a customer will turn away from the third party authorization process, thus reducing sales for all of us.

They did offer us alternatives and we could use the rest of the time we purchased on the Actinic Shared SSLs if we chose, they didn't just leave us hanging. We just won't be able to renew them.

I chose not to purchase their GeoTrust SSL package and instead am at this moment installing a different SSL with a higher warranty. That's how I found your post.

So maybe the same is true for you? Don't think that this is causing your error however.

      Hi Steve,

What is your website url? It possible the timeout is due to either Actinic trying to connect to your mail server and having problem, or even Actinic cannot see your site when bouncing back. I will need to see your error log.

Christy, I did not know this, Thanks for providing this information.

      Kind Regards

        Steve,

Just a correction to my message above, in the U.S. Actinic Shared SSL is still going to be supported but just not encouraged. We've got a couple of sites and will continue to use it on one until the end of the year.

          Hi
          The URL is:
          www.gearshift.co.uk

I switched to inbuilt encryption for a while, then back to shared SSL on Wednesday this week. It seems to be back to normal now, but the whole thing is a bit of a knock to the old confidence. It was only due to the fact that the odd customer told us about this that we realised why orders had dropped off...
